Here is the full beer list from the Independent Salford Beer Festival 2014. Please see the main Breweries and Beer page for details of the 2015 beer list, once details have been confirmed.

Allgates, Wigan | @allgatesbrewers

Brewing fine craft beer in the heart of Wigan, in a fully restored 19th Century Grade II-listed, tower brewery and combining heritage with imagination, All Gates build on a British cask ale tradition, producing bold hop-forward beers but retaining balance and subtlety; beers with true Northern Soul.

Atom Beers, Hull | @atombeers

One of the North’s newest breweries, Atom are fundamentally a brewery dedicated to making good, flavour forward drinkable beer. We have been borne out of the passion for beers and science by Allan Rice and Sarah Thackray. Ultimately we find the process of making beer using world class ingredients, some traditional and some off the wall, the most exciting part of what we do, there is nothing better than formulating a new beer and experimenting on our kit to make it.

Bad Seed, Malton | @badseedbrewery

We make handcrafted, full-flavoured beers, using the best ingredients and innovative recipes. Beer that makes you sit up and take notice. Beer that makes you want to sing. Beer that makes you happy to be alive.

Beer Supplied: Yorkshire (Fresh) Hops Brown Ale – 3.8% abv

BlackJack, Manchester | @Blackjackbeers

Graduating from working in some of Manchester’s finest pubs, to brewing at Marble Brewery, finally setting up his own brewery in 2012 barely a stones throw away from Marble (on some of their old kit!), Rob Hamilton and his small team make some adventurous and incredibly tasty beers in their railway arch off Dantzic St.

Beer Supplied: King of Clubs (Port) – 7.4% abv

Blackedge Brewing Co., Bolton | @Blackedgebeers

Based in Horwich on the edge of the West Pennine Moors, Blackedge Brewery was founded in 2011. Brewing Award Winning ales using traditional hand crafted methods inspired by the British heritage of brewing and the US craft beer revolution. Using only the finest ingredients we brew hoppy but well balanced beers full bodied and full of hop flavour.

Beer Supplied: Brewers Gold – 3.9% abv – ‘A single hopped pale golden ale with spicy blackcurrant and lemon flavours with a delicate citrus aroma’.

Brass Castle Brewery, Malton | @BrassCastleBeer

Brass Castle Brewery started brewing very small quantities in August 2011 in the garage in Pocklington of founder Phil Saltonstall. Within 2 months the brewery had won Champion Beer at the York CAMRA Beer Festival.

With partner Ian Goodall, following two brewery moves, brewing commenced in new multi-purpose premises in Malton in December last year. In addition to a wide-range of award winning cask ales, there are 3 bottled beers available, a Vienna style lager has been produced, and the opportunity to start delivering kegged (“craft”) beer has also begun.

Beer Supplied: Hazelnut Mild – 4.2% (Luscious 5 malt, nut-brown mild with a delicate hazelnut aroma)

Brewsmith Beer, Ramsbottom | @BrewsmithBeer

Founded in 2014 by the Smith family – James, Jennifer and Ted, Brewsmith Beer is a fledgling microbrewery based in the picturesque village of Ramsbottom, Bury. Located on the banks of the River Irwell (flowing merely yards from this festival!) and currently producing four cask ales which makes up their initial range: Brewsmith Bitter, Brewsmith Pale, Brewsmith IPA and Oatmeal Stout.  The emphasis is on quality ingredients and attention to detail  to produce ales we are proud of.

Bridestones Brewing, Hebden Bridge | @bridestonesbeer

Named after the local bouldering outcrop “The Bridestones”, Bridestones Brewing is an award winning brewery based on the family farm in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire that has been brewing since May 2006 with the aim of producing great quality beers, brewed with the finest all natural ingredients and Pennine spring water.

Brightside Brewing Co., Bury | @BrightsideBrew

Brightside Brewing Company is a 15bbl microbrewery based in Radcliffe, Manchester. We’re a family run business and have been brewing since 2010, producing a broad range of cask conditioned ale styles. We pride ourselves on producing high quality, consistently drinkable beers using hops from the UK and around the world.

Cheshire Brewhouse, Congleton | @TheCheshireBrew

The Cheshire Brewhouse is currently a 5BBL microbrewery based in Congleton Cheshire. Shane Swindells (Brewer) is a great believer in local products and is passionate about supporting business local to him, rather than the multinationals and the Cheshire Brewhouse strives wherever possible to use british products and suppliers when making our beers.

Beer Supplied: Howling House Session Black IPA – 5% abv – A Mega Hoppy IPA style beer but dark and moody, this beer will make you think again about dark beer. Hopped with a massive amount of Galaxy, experimental 366 & Sorachi Ace (all big flavour hops) The Howling house is a Flavour explosion.

Cwrw Iâl, Llanarmon yn Iâl


Cwrw Iâl Community Brewing Company is a social enterprise based in the Vale of Iâl, near Llanarmon yn Iâl, but it is more than just a community project. Is has set out to be a force to be reckoned with! They do not produce run of the mill real ale, they produce the highest quality beer with tasty ingredients. They believe in delivering the whole package, going the extra mile and working in collaboration with local businesses, artists and social enterprises.

Beer Supplied: Doigys Deeply Dark – Black IPA – (5.4% abv)

First Chop Brewing Arm, Salford | @firstchopale

Operating out of a Railway Arch in Sunny Salford which also contains a secret garden and reggae sound system. First Chop Brewing Arm are crafty brewers of the highest order. Producing a range of uncompromising, hop forward brews.

Hand Drawn Monkey Brewing Co., Huddersfield | @HDMBrewingCo

Started in October 2012 by Rob Allen (former manager / brewer at ‘El Rat and Ratchet,’ Huddersfield) and Tom Evans, (senior brew monkey extraordinaire at ‘Blue Monkey Brewery,’ Nottingham among others) these cheeky chappies brew beers they like and push the boundaries of convention. (For proof, see below!)

Beer Supplied: Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte – 3.6% abv (Brown Ale loaded with Maraschino cherries and forest fruits!)

Hornbeam Brewery, Manchester | @HornbeamBrewery

Hornbeam Brewery is a family run craft micro-brewery based in Denton, Manchester We at Hornbeam pride ourselves on our excellent range of award winning cask conditioned real ales. Our head brewer, Kevin Rothwell has been brewing beers since his youth and has now perfected a range of superior quality and distinctive cask ales, full of flavour and character.

IndyManBrewHouse, Manchester


Indy-Man-Brew-House is the brewing sibling to big brothers Common, Port Street Beer House, The Beagle, and Indy-Man-Beer-Con in Manchester. We’re pleased to be involved with The Independent Salford Beerfest and its great cause. We hope punters will enjoy our OmniPorter (5% ABV), a roasty, smooth porter.

Liverpool Craft Beer Co., Liverpool | @craft_beers

Founded in 2010, The Liverpool Craft Beer Co. brew on a 10 barrel plant producing forward-thinking beers. Regular collaborations with arts and music events have seen Liverpool Craft’s beer appear in the most unique and interesting venues in the city. No mission to achieve, no message to convey. An independent brewery keeping busy brewing good beer.

Beer Supplied: Toast – 4.2% abv – A biscuity, hoppy and bitter amber ale brewed using Chinook and Waimea hops. (First appearance for this new beer!)

Marble Brewery, Manchester | @marblebrewers

Marble brewery was set up as a 4.5 barrel plant in the spare room of the “Marble Arch Inn” in Manchester in 1997. The emphasis for Marble has always been on high quality ingredients, hop forward thinking and an idea to create beer that people want to drink and talk about. This desire to make great beer has helped the brewery to grow into the 12 barrel plant it is today. We are very excited to have welcomed Matthew Howgate as head brewer in February 2014.

North Riding BrewPub, Scarborough | @north_riding

Stuart Neilson brews on a 2 barrel plant in the cellars of the North Riding Brewpub producing beers just for the pub (and occasional beer festivals – like this!).

At maximum capacity he turns out only 21 firkins of beer per week, which rarely see this side of the Pennines. Enjoy this rarity!

“Great beer, brewed by a chick”! Michelle Kelsall and her small team send out some simply superb beers from the centre of Crewe, including the award winning “Way Out Wheat”. Guess what we got?

Outstanding Beers, Bury | @Outstandingbeer

“Evil prevails, when good men brew nothing”!

Founded in Bury in 2008, the Outstanding Brewing Co is a micro-brewery dedicated to brewing high quality small batch beers using the finest quality ingredients. We combine traditional millennia old brewing methods with the latest modern technology in the endeavour to achieve our aspiration of creating Outstanding Beers.

Specialising in both cask and keg beers and operating a dual system, we brew on a 15 barrel (4320 pint) brewery and also use a 2.5 barrel (720 pint) brewery to brew specials and experimental beers.

A microbrewery based in Castleford, West Yorkshire. Our music-inspired beer remixes expectations of styles and flavours, appealing to contemporary tastes, yet with a nod to tradition. Classic songs, albums and artists are referenced throughout the beer range, with our love of the 45rpm 7″ single being symbolized in the 4.5% ABV of a number of our beers. (Music & Beer -Right up our street!)

Two years ago co-founders Paul and George were living together at Manchester University, when they jointly invested their spare cash into a home-brewing kit. The beers were brewed in the kitchen and fermented in the basement of their student house. It wasn’t long before the pair began selling their homebrew at student house parties and it was here the first seeds of ShinDigger were planted…

A new-kid-on-the-block, experimental craft brewery based in Manchester. Using techniques old and new to create complex tastes and powerful sensations. For intrepid beer hunters on the lookout for bold flavours and brave brews.

TicketyBrew was started by husband and wife, Duncan and Keri Barton. With a shared love of bottled beer, we started a brewery which was inspired by our visits to Belgium. While we appreciate and love exploring the world of hops, we also believe that good flavour doesn’t need to come from hops alone.

Two Roses Brewery, Barnsley | @tworosesbrewery

An 8 barrel micro-brewery operating in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.  It is currently a one person operation but they are looking to expand and take on staff in the near future. James (the brewer) was born and brought up in Oldham, Lancashire (as was) and currently brews his multi-award winning beers in Barnsley hence the brewery name of “Two Roses”.

Wilson Potter Brewery, Rochdale | @wilsonpotter

Wilson Potter is a 6 BBL micro-brewery based in Middleton run by friends Amanda Seddon & Kathryn Harrison. They both brew, and produce a variety of styles of full-flavoured beer. With 6 regular beers, another 6 beers brewed more occasionally & a number of one-off specials that are thrown in when the mood takes them, you can find their award-winning beers in cask all over the Manchester area.
