Saint Sebastian’s Community Centre, Salford
St Sebastian’s Community Centre, located on Douglas Green, Charlestown, in the east of Salford is a locally governed and managed organisation, dedicated to improving the quality of life for local people in the area through provision of services and activities.
The Centre provides a wide variety of facilities for the local community ranging in age from the Big Steps child care provision and a Drama Club for 3-11 year olds, through a youth club facility, including an IT room in order to develop their skills and training opportunities.
Volunteering opportunities for local families are numerous and activities for older people are many including an over 50s History group, Sew and So’s Sewing Club, a Camera club, Judo, the activities go on and on.
Funding for the Centre has always been difficult. This deteriorated further however when, in 2013 a small, yet vital grant from the City Council was withdrawn. Consequently budgeting has been even more of a struggle.
Whilst being a big event in itself, this Beer Festival is one of many events that the centre hosts in an effort to raise funds to keep this vital local facility alive.
You can help by coming to drink some of the great beers on offer.
We look forward to seeing you!
